City Holds Fundraiser for Memorial to Honor Fallen Officers

BRIDGEPORT – On Monday, July 1, 2013, a fundraiser will be held for the Bridgeport Police Department Memorial, which will be built outside Police Headquarters at 300  Congress St.

The memorial will honor all Bridgeport police officers who died in the line of duty.

“We all know the job police do is dangerous,” said Mayor Bill Finch. “Officers here in Bridgeport and across the country do a very difficult job. Tragically, some don’t make it home at the end of their shift and we need to honor them for their bravery and service.”

Fundraising is a joint effort between the city and police union Local 1159.

An event has been scheduled for July 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Fire Engine Pizza Company, 2914 Fairfield Ave, Bridgeport. Supporters also can purchase commemorative brick pavers that will be incorporated into the memorial. Order forms can be found at the Police Union website at
